Starring Jack Dee as Steve and Kerry Godliman as his wife Nicky, they play a married couple who are both on their second marriages and have decided that moving to the countryside from the city is the answer to all their dreams.
They’ve watched all the TV relocation shows and read the glossy lifestyle magazines and fell in love with the idea of ‘getting away from the rat race’.
Unfortunately living a simple existence in beautiful surroundings is not all it’s cracked up to be and Steve and Nicky soon find living in the countryside might not be for them after all. Especially when they discover that the house they’ve bought is situated in what locals refer to as ‘In’t Dip’ – a place where internet signals cannot reach, but floodwater most definitely can.
Thanks to unscrupulous estate agents, architects and builders squeezing more money out of the couple, they find themselves in a financial situation that means there is no going back.
The couple must put on a brave face as the last thing they want is for all their friends back in the city to be proven right after they all said it was a ‘bad move’.
When Nicky and Steve discover that their kitchen has flooded, they have to call on Nicky’s Dad for help.
The ever-unimpressed Ken duly arrives with a pump - but Steve is convinced that the source of the flooding could be a natural spring. He hopes that this will prove to be the answer to all their problems.
Nicky, meanwhile, takes a more practical approach to their finances and decides to earn some money by walking a villager’s dog.
But when the locally based rock star Grizzo turns up with some alarming news, it’s not just Nicky’s job that might be at risk.

Filmed in the picturesque North York Moors, Bad Move is a family comedy set in the most stunning countryside location, where their nearest neighbours Matt (Miles Jupp) and Meena (Manjinder Virk) annoyingly make it all look so easy. Other villagers include Grizzo (Seann Walsh) - a rock star that needs village life to keep him grounded , Ken (Philip Jackson) - Steve’s no-nonsense disapproving father in-law, and Shannon (Sue Vincent) - the local shopkeeper.
Bad Move is a new single camera scripted comedy for TV3 by Open Mike Productions written by Jack Dee and Pete Sinclair.
Bad Move was commissioned by Comedy Commissioning Editor Saskia Schuster and Head of Comedy Entertainment Peter Davey. It’s written by Jack Dee and Pete Sinclair and will be produced by Open Mike Productions with Andrew Beint executive producing.Nicky and Steve are alarmed to discover that an ancient public right of way runs straight through their garden. When Steve makes an enemy of the ramblers who insist of using it, a tense stand-off ensues. Their only hope is to persuade the villagers to sign their petition.
Meanwhile, Matt and Meena have organised their children into taking part in a sponsored recorderthon for the local hospital. They are adamant that Nicky and Steve should come along to support it. Grizzo is preoccupied with a new craze – E.F.T. or ‘tapping therapy’. Could it be the answer to Nicky and Steve’s problems?

Martin Clunes returns to play the nation’s favourite grumpy medic in a brand new series of Doc Martin for TV3.
He stars as Dr. Martin Ellingham, the GP with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood, in eight new episodes of the hugely successful drama produced by Buffalo Pictures and set in the idyllic hamlet of Portwenn in Cornwall.
Picturesque Port Isaac provides the beautiful backdrop for the popular series, with all regular members of the cast reprising their roles alongside guest stars Art Malik, Caroline Quentin and Sigourney Weaver.
Caroline Catz plays Doc Martin’s wife and local school headmistress, Louisa Ellingham. Dame Eileen Atkins plays Doc Martin’s formidable Aunt Ruth, with Ian McNeice as Bert Large and Joe Absolom as his son Al. John Marquez is back as Portwenn PC Joe Penhale, with Jessica Ransom as the Doc’s receptionist, Morwenna Newcross, and Selina Cadell as pharmacist Mrs Tishell.James is teething: nothing seems to be working, and nobody is getting any sleep. In desperation, Martin and Louisa agree to try Mel Hendy’s (Rosie Ede) suggestion of amber beads. They appear to be working, until James gets a bead stuck up his nose.
Mrs Tishell seems to be having a delayed onset of mourning and is “speaking to” Clive. Bert tries to offer advice, which only leads to Mrs Tishell shutting the pharmacy, inconveniencing everyone.
After receiving a large potential order of ‘Large Whisky’, Al tries to put together the still, with no luck. Al goes to Bert to ask for help, and Bert couldn’t be more relieved to see him, as things were getting very tricky with Caitlin (Angela Curran). But they will need to get Ruth’s approval to go ahead.
Local artists, Lily (Linda Broughton) and Walter O’Donnell (Paul Copley) are preparing for an upcoming exhibition. Walter puts Morwenna on the guest list after he sees Martin for his eye infection. Since Mrs Tishell has closed the pharmacy, Morwenna offers to deliver Walter’s medication, but when she does, she finds a very ill Lily.
Louisa persuades Martin to go and speak to Mrs Tishell. He is the only person who she will listen to. Mrs Tishell reads more into it than Martin intended but does agree to reopen.
Louisa has further problems to deal with at school, when she meets Toby (Rocco Peacock), Angela Sim’s (Caroline Quentin) nephew. His parents think he has ADHD, but have left him with Angela whilst they are working abroad. Angela tries to juggle moving her surgery, looking after Toby and setting up a mobile veterinary clinic. Toby falls ill with Scarlet Fever and is sent home to rest. Toby infects Angela with lobar pneumonia, which Martin discovers when she collapses whilst out walking her dogs, and has to treat Angela in her surgery.
